Care & Protection

Rafton Family Lawyers are one of the few accredited specialist team in Children’s Law in the Western Sydney region. In any matter where the Department of Community & Justice is involved can be extremely stressful and emotional particularly where children are involved or children have been removed from your care. Our team of lawyers is one of the largest in NSW that practices exclusively in this area and we have been able to take in work for a combined period of over 30 years.

Care and Protection is the area of law that focuses on the safety of children and their protection from abuse and neglect. It is important to note that this is not the same as Family Law and families involved in a Care and Protection matter may not be in a family dispute.

Governed by the Care and Protection Act (NSW), matters in this field arise when a family cannot provide adequate care and protection for their children and a government agency (such as the Department of Family and Community Services) becomes involved.

At Rafton Family Lawyers we have experience acting as an Independent Children’s Lawyer, for children who have been removed from their families. We have also represented parents who need help having their children returned to them, and grandparents who wish to care for children that have been removed from their parents.
